Former Everton and Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta is currently working as a coach for Manchester City.
The player announced his retirement at the end of the last season and joined Pep Guardiola coaching staff at the Manchester club.
The former Everton midfielder said that the club had improved massively under Guardiola and he feels that there is still much more to come. He said that despite the fact that the club has lost some games during the past few weeks, he feel that the club can still challenge for the title.
Mikel Arteta said that the Premier League is a tough competition and that you can lose at any moment. He believes that all the team around them in the table will lose points sooner or later and it is up to them to remain consistent.
He said that Pep Guardiola is still looking for his best team and that he should be given time to sort things out at Manchester City. Arteta said that Guardiola has a clear philosophy on how football should be played and that it would take time before the Manchester City players understand that.
Mikel Arteta said that there is the possibility that the club signs new players during the January transfer window but it will all depend on what type of players are available on the market. He said that the big clubs would not want to separate with their best players in the middle of a season and it might be difficult to get top players.
He said that at the moment Manchester City will focus on the players that are at the club and will want to take maximum points during this busy period of the Premier League. He believes that they are in a good position and that they should be able to challenge for the title
