Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has had his say on his team’s top-four hopes in the Premier League ahead of the London Derby duel with Brentford on Saturday. Arteta was asked about the possibility of finishing in the top-four places at the end of this season’s Premier League campaign during his pre-match presser for the Brentford game. The Gunners had earlier been installed by the bookmakers as favourites to clinch fourth spot behind the top three namely defending champions Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea. Arsenal were made favourites after their rivals dropped points over the past one week.Mikel Arteta and his players are in a fight for fourth spot with Manchester United, West Ham United, Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal are currently sixth on the Premier League log, but they have games in hand over their rivals. The Gunners are presently four points behind Manchester United who are in fourth spot at the moment having played three games more than the North London club. London rivals West Ham United are two points ahead of the Gunners in fifth spot, but they have played three more games than Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal players have the opportunity to close the gap on fourth spot in the next five days starting with the London Derby duel with the Bees at the Emirates Stadium this weekend. They also have a date with Wolves at home on Thursday night. Arsenal would be hoping to do the double over Wolves whom they beat 1-0 with ten men at their home last week Thursday. The Gunners could end the Wolves game in the top-four if other results go their way.
