Some vital Arsenal players have suffered injuries off late and Mikel Arteta, the deputy skipper of the club, is worried about that, but, he hopes that his team keeps going as well as it has gone so far in the season and ends up winning the league.
In February, the Gunners will be up against a couple of strong opponents like Liverpool and Manchester United. They will have to defeat these two teams to keep themselves ahead of their title rivals, but, it’s hard to assume them doing that as they will be going into those matches with a slightly weaker line up.
Arsenal has already been replaced at the top of the league table by Manchester City. They are at no. 2 at the moment with 52 points. They can’t afford another one or two results to go against them because if that happens, it would become very hard for them to come back into the title race.
However, before facing Liverpool and United, Arsenal has to play an easy game against the Premier League new boys Crystal Palace. That match is scheduled to take place this Sunday at the Emirates and the Gunners would like to win it by a big margin to make a strong statement before the match against the Reds.
Talking to the reporters ahead of the match against Crystal Palace, Arteta said, “The injuries have really hit us badly. We would have loved to have guys like Theo available for selection for the key games, but, unfortunately, we have fallen short of options.”
“However, that happens with all the sides at some point of time. Now, the guys who are fit and in the squad need to step up and produce the goods.”
The good thing for Arsenal is that they have to play against both Liverpool and United at Emirates only.
