Florent Malouda does not think that the Chelsea coaching Staff was responsible for not him not getting playing time at the club towards the end of his career there.
As per Malouda, the coaches just did what they were asked to do by the Blues hierarchy and thus, there is no point putting blame on them.
Opening up to the press in France the other day, the veteran winger said, “They froze me out over there. They did whatever was possible to make sure that I suffer humiliation. They did not let me train with the first team. What they actually wanted to prove to me was that I didn’t have any right to make a call on my future.”
“The reports in the press took me by surprise when I went back to UK after the Euro Championships 2012 and it was all done by them (Chelsea directors) only. They were trying to harm my reputation.”
“The first team coaches had nothing to do with that. I don’t want to blame them. They had to listen to their employers and that’s what they did. It was fair enough on their parts.”
During the summer of 2012-13, Chelsea wanted to sell Malouda and a few clubs had shown interest too, but, the player could not agree personal terms with either of those clubs because of his big salary demands.
Malouda’s stubbornness regarding wages pissed the Chelsea bosses off and they decided that the Frenchman would not be selected in the first team in any of the matches that season.
Next summer, Malouda’s contract at Stamford Bridge finished and Chelsea let him go as expected. The winger, thereafter, signed for Trabzonspor, a Turkish club, where he stayed for just a solitary season.
Current, Malouda is a part of FC Metz, a French club.
