Unai Emery’s job at Emirates is almost over even though he just began and ex-Arsenal player are among those rumored to being shortlisted for the Gunner job.
The Spaniard has lost the confidence of the board room, fans and even his squad and even the ants on the walls of the Emirates stadium won’t vouch for him at this point.
Former Manchester United man, Jose Mourinho has also been rumored to be a strong candidate for the position but given his recent history, his inability to manage a side without setting it on fire on his way out, not many fans or even boardroom members are in favor of seeing the man who called club hero Arsene Wenger a specialist-in-failure in charge of their beloved club.
Another man rumored to be in contention for the job is former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers. For all his goodwill and supposedly positive style of football, his inability to bring the Reds to the heights current coach Jurgen Klopp has brought remains a big dent in his portfolio.
For a club like Arsenal, banking on a coach that has for years proven incapable of standing toe to toe with the giants of England makes him lose cool points.
Mikel Arteta is not the only former player rumored to be gunning for the job. A former member of the invincibles, Freddie Ljungberg is currently tipped to become the caretaker manager once the club chiefs feel Emery’s shortcomings are too much to allow him stay till the end of the season.
Current Sevilla coach JulenLopetegui who also managed both the Spanish national team and Real Madrid is also said to be a favorite but his engagement with Sevilla is almost as strong as the one Diego Simeone has with Atletico Madrid.
